There's more emoticons available in Yahoo! instant messenger than most users know about! here's a complete list (I believe) of all hidden Yahoo emoticons, plus the keyboard shortcuts and a few other tips and tricks added at the end as I discover them.

Here's a little trick for anyone else who is as annoyed as me by the behaiviour of the Yahoo! download link, the link on the Yahoo! page gets you an annoying online installer which continues to extol the virtues of the software.
(hello!... I've already decided to install it... you can stop trying to sell it to me!...)
If you copy the link and paste it into the address bar of your browser, then add a
"y" before the filename, you get to download the program directly instead of the crappy online installer.
Or you could just click Yahoo Messenger 8 offline installer.
For Yahoo Messenger 9 click Yahoo Messenger 9 offline installer.
Also handy if you want to install it on several machines. Downloading the program you want, instead of the online installer, also means that you get the full benefit of any download accelerator software you may use.
Yahoo Messenger polygamy without patching:
- Click start button and select Run (or hold the Windows key while pressing the "R" key) and then type regedit to open the registry editor.
- In the registry editor navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\yahoo\pager\Test
- In the right-pane look for a DWORD entry called Plural, In yahoo messenger 8.x this will not exist, but in Yahoo messenger 9 this will exist and will have a default value of 2. If it does not yet exist right-click and create it.
- Create the DWORD entry Plural if it doesn't exist, or modify it if it already exists, change the value to 1.
